Ruralwave has a 19 year history of operation in the Durham Region.
Our predecessor business – Royal Oak Studio – began life as a computer hardware, software and service provider in Brock Township in 1995. In response to the growing demand for affordable internet connectivity, Ruralwave was formed in 2005 and began providing high speed wireless access to rural households and firms across Durham Region. Ruralwave has grown to serve clients from Oshawa and Port Hope in the south, northwards toward Bancroft and from Newmarket in the west toward Peterborough in the east, an area that encompasses most of Durham Region, including Brock, Scugog, and Clarington townships, a large portion of Kawartha Lakes and isolated areas in York Region.
We currently offer reliable, affordable broadband internet connection and phone services to our subscribers. We provide Hot Spots for tourist and campground locations in our coverage areas. We operate over 118 transmission towers, and 4 Network Operation Centres (NOCs) located in Cannington, Bancroft, Toronto and New York. We currently have over 1500 clients in the Durham and Kawartha Lakes area.
Ruralwave also operates an effective project management team that has extensive experience and expertise in networking and broadband roll outs. Ruralwave currently employs 10 full time staff and 4 part time staff and is actively involved in many college programs to introduce new young people to the workplace. Ruralwave is a proud member of the Canadian Network Operators Consortium – cnoc.ca and Canadian Association of Wireless Internet Providers – Canwisp.ca
